Benefits of a Full Body Detox

The truth is that many people, may the be healthy or unhealthy, because of the foods we eat, the beverages we drink and the air that we breath, the body is going to have a lot of bacteria and how our organs that deal with certain food and drink products, their can be toxins introduced to our bodies.

Fortunately, our liver, kidneys and colon (large intestines) do a great job of filtering out this waste but it’s not 100% effective. For example, the liver is very important in removing harmful substances in the bloodstream and eliminating the toxins. The kidneys remove waste from our urine and filters that out. The colon which is known for absorbing water and salt from foods will convert that food into waste (which we get rid of in a bowel movement). But not all of that waste is eliminated. In fact, some get stuck in our intestines and are stuck on the walls of the intestines and the longer they stay in there, they become toxic and poisonous. Studies have shown that a normal person may have up to 20+ pounds of dry fecal matter stuck in their colon.

Fortunately, a full body detox can eliminate these toxins from the body and there can only be positive benefits for doing a full body detox.
If you are a person who has been bothered by fatigue, headaches, nausea to digestive problems like constipation, diarrhea or stomach pains, then you can help defeat those by possibly doing a full body detox.

So, people feel a need to put their bodies through a full body detox. The detox involves a person strictly focusing on organic foods and raw vegetables, fruits and whole grains. The main thought is that the liver needs to function primarily on water and glucose and these components help rid of the toxins that are stored in the body. So, by drinking up to eight glasses of water, this helps flush out the toxins. Also, the person must stay away from alcohol, tobacco or smoking. Anything dangerous for the body, eliminate it. And this also includes the consumption of caffeine and junk food as well.

When it comes to eating, outside of focusing on organic foods and raw vegetables, fruits and whole grains, a person must try to rid foods with excessive sugar like junk foods and even red meat.

As for the colon, it’s good to take a lot of fiber but also adding a supplement such as psyllium husk which can be found as tablet or powder form at department or health food stores. Psyllium is a source of water-soluble fiber and when mixed with water during the digestive process, the husks around the seed will expand larger and larger. It will produce a gooey, gelatin-like substance that will bulk up the stool and also soften it. Most importantly, the ability to move things through the intestines and the fecal matter that is stuck, makes it unstuck and expelled through waste.

The goal is to eat healthy, drinking a lot of water to help flush any toxins in the body. But for some people, especially those dependent on caffeine or alcohol, they may have side-effects such as headaches, anemia, irregular heartbeats, etc. Thus it is important to contact your physician if you are planning to go on a full body detox, so you can be properly monitored.
